Burglary - A quick psychosexual piece.

 

Burglary's main objective to the perpetrator is a feeling of sexual gratification. It is about power, control and helplessness. It ignites the same core value in a person that arson does. For this reason, burglary can be considered a gate-way crime that can escalate to other more violent acts. Psychologically to some individuals burglary fills a systematic need for self-gratification by taking control away from other people, and invading their privacy. The drive for the escalation then ensues when the perpetrator begins to get de-sensitized to the sexual thrill he experiences on that level and wants to push it onto another level and raise the calibre by going on to perform, rape, manslaughter, arson and even murder.
